I don't know the history of the building, but with the Key Drop slot still in the door I wonder if this used to be part of an auto garage at some point. Neat. |
Talk about an underdog brewery, here. Everyone talks about Reubens, Stoup, Fremont, etc., but where's the RBC chatter? Ravenna Brewing Company is definitely in my top 5, maybe even top 3 breweries in Seattle proper. Their releases never miss, and as someone who inexplicably can't get enough of Hazy IPAs, yes I am not ashamed to admit I'm a hazeboi, they put out some top notch hazies. I mean for god sakes, I have a shirt that says "BODY BY HAZY IPA Definitely some of the best hazy IPAs in Seattle.
The rest of their beer schedule and portfolio is excellent too though. They aren't one note wonders with their IPAs. I've had banger lagers, excellent dark beers, and their barleywine To The Edge is what attracted me to them in the first place. We were up in Northgate at Watershed Pub and splurged on a barleywine bottle to split. From first sip we realized our mistake. We should've ordered TWO bottles. So damn good.
Transit
You'll never forget which neighborhood they're in either, given the name. They're at 5408 26th AVE NE. There's no parking lot, and limited street parking, so maybe just walk or take a bus? It is a brewery afterall. The 79 bus route stops almost right outside of the brewery.

Other transit options give you a bit more of a walk, but nothing unmanageable. My favorite way to get here, when I have the time, and it's nice out...is to take the light rail to Roosevelt Station and walk to Ravenna Brewing Company THROUGH Cowen/Ravenna Park. It's a beautiful 25 minute stroll through one of the best 'hidden secret' parks in the city. It's also a good way to burn off all the future calories you're about to imbibe. Do future calories even count?
Food
They also have a food truck on site basically every day they are open. If you're lucky you might get there on a day that Impeckable Chicken is there. Nothing like a double IPA to wash down a chili crisp fried chicken sandwich on a Friday evening after a long work week. They're food truck schedule is posted online, and is typically the usual suspects of food trucks found at other breweries across Seattle, like Where Ya At Matt?, Off The Rez, Outsider BBQ, etc.

Brewery
They have a pretty small brewing space, so if you get there on a brew day, the inside gets super hot and humid during some of the initial brewing phases. I personally love this. It's especially nice on a cold winter evening.

Children and Dogs are both allowed on site with responsible owners. There's a few non-beer options there too, like alcoholic slushies and a few wines/ciders. The have a pretty sizable covered outdoor area with large communal picnic tables as well as several stereotypical barrels for smaller parties to sit at. They also have a few seats in front of those fireplace things with crystal/glass rocks in them. What are those even called? They're pretty cool though. The covered area has heaters during the colder months too. They aren't like the industrial behemoth heaters like Fremont Brewing has, but they do just fine.
