Ladd and Lass Brewing is small husband and wife owned brewery on the western edge of the U District that is fully deserving of big praise.

They're only a little over two years old as a brewery, I only know that because I had their two year anniversary Barleywine a few months ago, which was excellent. But it's obvious they've been crafting their beer for much longer. If you're a casual beer drinker and don't come to the U District often you may not have heard of them, but they are definitely making a name for themselves among beer nerds.
And they have good humor -- making the best out of an unfortunately common Seattle occurrence. |
Ladd and Lass is at 722 NE 45th Street, which yes, used to be the site of another brewery previously, Floating Bridge Brewing. If you visit the taproom, you can actually learn more about the building's history, because it also used to be a music venue that hosted some pretty prominent acts at the time. Pretty neat.
There's plenty of transit that can get you close, it's a short walk off the light rail -- U District station..
A delicious hazy IPA in the upper area of the taproom. It's not so much an upstairs...just...an elevated area. |
Everything I've had here has been excellent, so anyone who has been sleeping on Ladd and Lass, wake up. Definitely on my list of best breweries in Seattle.
They even had a 'collab' of sorts to solidify their roots in the U District, ground zero for Boba Tea excess. They brewed a specialty Boba Seltzer for Boba Fest back in the spring. I didn't have a chance to try it, but I'm sure they'll come up with something neat like that again.
They routinely have food trucks on site, which is always a plus. When we went this last time, the food truck was Georgia's Greek with gyros, souvlaki, falafel, etc.
You can see into the brewing area from up here. There's the shuffleboard too. |
Onsite they have some table / board games to play, a TV and a projector which usually has something on, generally sports, and even a tabletop shuffleboard game. They are dog friendly for well behaved dogs as well!
I took this picture on a previous visit. A cool neon sign of a pug, I believe of their own family pug! RIP to that Petco in the background. |
"Spirit Halloween -- Opening Soon!" You heard it here first...like clockwork, Spirit Halloween will be taking over the Petco building for the fall season in the UDistrict!! |
