Speaks for itself I suppose. |
It's a silly graffiti on the sign, but it got me thinking about Freeway Park a bit more. Sitting on the cusp of downtown and First Hill, it's an odd mix of greenery and the brutalism that was ever so common back in its time. The part that through me off even more, although it makes sense now, is that it's a popular...and I really do mean popular, parkour park.
It's listed as number 2 for the greatest parkour locations in the WORLD by World Freerunning Parkour Federation. They rated it so due to the park's, and I quote:
- maze-like structure
- stone staircases and platforms
- endless opportunities for jumps, tricks & acrobatics
I suppose if you hurt yourself practicing, there's always Fentanyl to ease the pain?
In all seriousness, I love the fact that Freeway Park exists. The existence of a major highway cutting through the downtown of a major city is kind of ridiculous. I enjoy that there is a push to lid even more of I-5 through the city. Check out LidI5 for more info.
