Holy Mountain Brewing / Dantini Pizza

"HOLY MOUNTAIN!" I exclaim, every time Rainier is out on a clear day. "HOLY MOUNTAIN!" I exclaim, every time someone asks me what one of the best breweries in Seattle is. Is it my favorite? I don't think so, but it's not a competition. It's definitely in my top five. Holy Mountain is a brewery, but it's really an experience as well.

Holy Mountain is a brewery located in Seattle's Interbay neighborhood. Interbay has some weird borders, but the brewery is right off the train tracks on Elliot Ave W. That matters too. The tracks are pretty active, so having a train blast through just feet away from your table is a pretty metal experience. You know what's also pretty metal? They have a large collection of Metal music records that are played on their sound system. It depends on the day how loud it is. It's usually extreme metal, like death metal, but it could be Metallica or Judas Priest or something too.

It has decent transit access (I've taken the D line here, the 33/32, potentially even another line), and it does have parking behind the brewery near the tracks if you're the kind of person that likes to drive to a drinking establishment.

If You Don't Like Judas Priest F You
See? Judas Priest. Behind the bar.

As someone who grew up on metal, this is like a haven for me. Gone are the breweries pumping out nonsense Top 40 Radio Hits, Holy Mountain fills that hole of an overall great brewery experience. It is also elevated by the fact that it is a 21+ establishment. I believe pretty firmly that all breweries should be 21+. They are first and foremost, drinking establishments. We shouldn't have to hear kids screaming and acting up when we're trying to enjoy a 14% barrel aged barleywine. But that's just me. I understand why they do it, more people allowed in = more money. But surely there's a compromise?

HLY MTN barrels

Some of you are seething mad at me now, so let me placate. If you still want to enjoy Holy Mountain's brews, they DO have a taproom in Phinney Ridge. It is family friendly, allows children, and doesn't play extreme metal. I've only been to the Phinney location once, but the music selection was paltry at best. I know I know. I sound like such an ass. I'm sorry.

One-Eyed Jacks form Twin Peaks -- Neon Sign!

Holy Mountain also celebrates Twin Peaks Day. So if you're a fan, there's no reason not to come. I went this past year. They had a projector playing the show on the wall, and tons of SWAG, like a coffee tumbler, shirts, etc. They even had a few beers dedicated to the show. But wait...they EVEN had a near perfect replica of the Red Room! Most of it is actually still there and set up, because if you're going to go through the trouble of setting all of that up, why not keep it?

The taproom does not have food, HOWEVER... they are literally next door to one of the best pizza places in Seattle. Pagliacci? Zeeks? Hell nah. Dantini, baby!

I think there was music playing. I think I had a beer at the table. I think someone was talking to me. I don't remember. I was too engrossed in my pizza.

They always have an excellent assortment of beers, and you can also get some of their specialty barrel aged beers "To Stay".
